Below is a list of terms used throughout Lincx and their definitions.
- Ad - In combination with a Creative, the Ad is what actually shows up on the page / in the feed. It’s what the consumer interacts with. Can set limits on impressions and clicks.
- Ad Group - The Ad Group does a lot of heavy lifting. It owns/contains Ads and here, you can enable/disable the entire group, control frequency capping and can limit impressions, clicks and conversions. You can whitelist or blacklist the showing of ads based on custom criteria passed to the ad server from the JavaScript tag on the Publisher page (Zone), whitelist/blacklist the showing of ads based upon geographic location and set day parting rules.
- Advertiser - TheAdvertiser is an entity that represents the top-level entity of the advertising hierarchy and has many associated campaigns and creatives.
- Campaign - A Campaign contains one or more Ad Groups, of which you can control start and end date as well as manually enable/disable.
- Channel - A Channel is an entity that represents a specific vertical belonging to a Publisher as part of a network and has many related Websites.
- Creative - A Creative is the basis for one or more Ads. It defines the output of an Ad including the Target URL, Creative Image and textual fields. You will need to create a Creative before you create an Ad.
- Creative Asset Group - The Creative Asset Group is how you define the textual fields that will appear in your Ads. It also serves as the connective tissue between the Advertiser side and the Publisher side. For an Ad to appear on a Publisher's site, it must ultimately inherit (via the Creative) from the same Creative Asset Group that the Publisher's Template does.
- Network - The Network is the entity that all others group under. Think of this as the central company.
- Publisher - A Publisher is an entity that represents a company or group that is a source for advertising content. It is the first entity required for the creation of most entities in the Inventory section. A Publisher can have associated Channels, Sites, Zones, Reports, and Templates.
- Template - A Template is an entity that holds the HTML layout and CSS code to style the actual ad feed. It is related to a Publisher through an association with a Zone and derives its model (available attributes) from a Creative Asset Group.
- Website - A Website is an entity that represents a specific site that belongs to a Channel as part of a Publisher network.
- Zone - A Zone is an entity that is related to a Site and holds the relationship between a Channel and Template including configuration settings related to that relationship.
